A Great Fuji Digital SLR Camera

The Fuji FinePix S3100 is a camera destination for those who know their way around handling cameras. If you're a beginner you might experience difficulty in achieving good results as it needs proper operation.

The 16mb memory card determines the a short "warm up" of under three seconds before you can see the subject. If you get a larger memory card this delay increases so it may be an inconvenience when trying to take a spontaneous shot.

To work with the automatic exposure and focus, when taking a picture you have to partly push the shutter button, wait for the confirmation and then push it all the way down. If you don't know this you'll get poor-quality shots and will blame it on the camera. But it is in this small delay that an object or person that you are trying to capture might move by the time you're ready to take the picture, so the camera isn't recommended for action photography. Also auto focus is, like on all cameras, not foolproof. You can get not so sharp images sometimes. But the 100-page informative and complete user manual explains this and other features and you should be able to work with the auto focus after reading it.

It's not a very lightweight camera, but not hard too, being comfortable to hold. It's 6x optical zoom will bring an object or a subject twice as close to you. You can get the optional conversion lenses, but they are expensive.

The camera has four scene modes (like night and portrait) five picture quality/size settings and three sharpness levels. It's included memory allows it to store up to eight pictures of the highest quality or 16 of the previous level of quality. It also has a macro mode for objects under four inches away from the camera and a soundless AVI movie shooting of limited-quality feature.

Limited manual adjustments include white balance, EV, flash brightness and aperture-priority.

The rechargeable Ni-MH batteries will have reduced life over time, but their initial power should be restored by the camera's discharge feature, or at least that's what the manual reads. At purchase you also get four alkaline AA's and you can choose an AC power adapter for some extra cash. The LCD screen normally lists the current settings and cautions if any, but this option can be turned off in the menu.

You can get some pretty nice photos with the S3100 and it's a good camera for beginners, and totally worth its price.

Getting the perfect Fuji digital camera, is never an easy thing, especially with the way digital technology is constantly changing. Fortunately, there are plenty of helpful websites online, that can narrow down your search and help you find the Fuji camera with all the features important to you.
